Top > Coffee > Africa and Arabia

Coffee plants were discovered in Ethiopia around AD 1000. Coffee drinking spread in the last half of the 15th Century to the Ottoman Empire and from there to Europe. Today there are thirty-two countries in Africa that produce coffee and although most of it is Robusta, there are several countries that produce excellent Arabica beans. From the carefully tended beans of the Ivory Coast to Ethiopia where many trees still grow wild; there are many discoveries to be made which will delight the palate.
